The Linen Hall Library announced that the Meridian International Center will be responsible for the presentation of the Troubled Images exhibitions throughout the United States.

The Troubled Images exhibition was launched by Senator George Mitchell at the Meridian International Center in Washington D.C. on 6th May. Bill Montgomery and John Gray spoke on behalf of the Library, exhorting the 300-strong audience to become members of the newly-formed American Friends of the Linen Hall Library.

Ambassador Walter Cutler, President of Meridian International Center, Richard Solomon, President of the United States Institute of Peace, and Tom Fitzgerald, Marketing and Public Relations Manager of the Northern Ireland Bureau in Washington D.C. also took part in the launch.

Speaking at the New Hampshire launch at the State Library in Concord on 17th July, New Hampshire Commissioner of Culture, Van McLeod told the large crowd that “bringing the Troubled Images exhibition to New Hampshire is an important part of our on-going cultural exchange with Northern Ireland and Ireland, and a way to share this extraordinary exhibit with the people of New Hampshire”.

Yvonne Murphy represented the Linen Hall Library at the launch, which was also attended by George Fergusson and Isolde Brennan, British and Irish Consuls for New England.

The exhibition moves to Chicago in September.
