Troubled Images on Tour in Portadown

As published in the Winter 2007 edition of the Linen Hall Library Newsletter:

Back from a successful tour of Bethlehem, Nablus and Ramallah in the West Bank, the award-winning Troubled Images exhibition was launched at the Millennium Court Arts Centre in Portadown on 17th October.

This is the first time that the exhibition has been on display in Northern Ireland since its original launch at the Linen Hall Library in 2001.

Over 100 people attended the launch, with key speakers including Bill Montgomery, President of the US Linen Hall Foundation; Kenneth Twyble, Deputy Mayor of Craigavon; Malcolm Johnston, Colourpoint Educational; and Yvonne Murphy, Creater of the Troubled Images project.

For Yvonne, a mative of Portadown, the event was particularly special, as it saw the exhibition make its debut in the town that initially inspired it.

The occasion also marked the launch of a new Troubled Images publication for young people, written by Dr Gordon Gillespie and published in conjunction with Colourpoint Educational.

The Troubled Images exhibition continues at the Millennium Court Arts Centre until 1st December and is accompanied by an extensive programme of events, including an educational symposium for teachers and a graphic design masterclass.
